Russian Tourists in Cyprus press meeting for 2013 at Le Meridien Resort

On Monday the 22nd of April 2013 Russian media and Tourist industry leaders from Cyprus met at Le Meridien Limassol Spa & Resort in Limassol to communicate to Russians  that Cyprus is ready to receive tourists for the season and to correct the misleading images shown in Russian media during the recent banking crisis.

Among the speakers were H.E. The Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cyprus, Mr. Vyacheslav D. Shumskiy, Limassol Commerce and Industry Chamber Vice President, responsible for tourist issues Costas Galatariots and Mr. Andreas Christou, The Mayor of Limassol.

During his speech the Russian Ambassador referred to a misleading image concerning Cyprus in the Russian market, due to comments by foreign media claiming that banks do not operate normally in Cyprus, that people cannot use their credit cards and that hotels are not operating as usual.

“I am here to assure you that Cyprus was, is, will continue to be one of the best tourist destinations,” Shumsky added.
