This entertainment was born in the Hawaii, because the inhabitants of these exotic islands were the first who decided to temperate ocean waves, and they called this amusement “hee nalu”. Due to several surf-enthusiasts and furious waves’ riders, who organized the first surf-lovers club in the Hawaii which was called “Waves’ club”, surfing turned into the official kind of sport and gained a great popularity. Firstly the surfing-mania wave came over America, later on it spread all over Australia, Asia and even Europe, in spite the absence of suitable places for surfing. As it is commonly known that if you want to get the most powerful emotions it is desirable to catch the most capricious “queen’s” wave, which is a rare guest in some places.

It is impossible to go info this “macho” kind of sport without physical strengths, stamina, promptitude, without mentioning the bravery and courage. Not only the huge waves (lots of them have their own names, peculiarities, and mode of behaviors) hunt the surfers; the amicable sportsmen can also be chased by the blood-thirsty sharks. The last ones, allegedly, confuse the surf boards with their favourite catch – seal-dogs and fur-seals – that is why they come around the peaceful sportsmen.

The danger of this powerful nature or insidious aquatic inhabitants can’t freeze out the wave’s conquerors, who give their hearts to this unique kind of sport. As surfing arouses competitiveness not only with oneself but also with unpredictable and consequently absorbing nature!

Like the other kinds of sport surfing has been developing and evolving facing various changes and taking different forms. The most popular among them are windsurfing and kite surfing.

Windsurfing combines classic surfing and sailing (that explains its name). At that the board serves as mini yacht, in the center of which there is a mast with a special sail and with a peculiar jay stick. Against due to the Hawaii the windsurfing fans received this kind of sport when the couple of friends having been tired of waiting for the proper wave decided to catch the wind with the help of the sail. It is worth mentioning that the size of the board for the wind surfing increases the size of its other “boards-colleagues” in the other kinds.

Hence we are talking about the surfing boards we have to mention their kinds. The long boards are the most traditional kind of the boards, they are universal which possess a great inertness and allow to skate with a huge curves, while the short boards let stunt on the waves, having a big flexibility. “Gans” – are the special boards for the big waves, which possess excessive functionality and the peculiar firmness.

Another kind of the surfing is the kite surfing or kiting. Kite serves as a tow in this case. The kite’s propulsive effort fulfills the function of the impulsive force for the surfboard and the rider. The main difference between kiting and its ancestor lies in the absence of waiting for the proper wave, because the wind power is enough for the sliding the same as and for the windsurfing. However kiters moved further and now on they are steezing with a varying success and unprecedented drive to take off the sea surface.

The peculiar danger of these sub kinds of the surf-sport lies in the fact that the surfer in these cases grapples with two powers – water and air, the unpredictability of which may lead to the undesirable consequences. As often as not unlucky windsurfers can be pulled out to sea, and the possibility to be lifted under the sea surface by the wind blast threatens with the potential following falling in the sea or on the ground scares adventurous kiters.

Without any aspiration to discourage the surfing newcomers and frighten the volunteers to become a member of the waves’ conquerors, we can’t help but warn you – improve your skills in the water kinds of sport and enjoy every moment, but be careful, dear surfing fans, the precautionary measures still exist.

Catch a great wave and have a fair wind!
