In 2011 UNESCO designated April 30th as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its consular role of uniting people in all corners of the globe.
International Jazz Day brings together artists, communities, schools and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about jazz: its roots, impact and future evolvement. Through the multicultural sounds of Jazz, to raise awareness of the need for intercultural dialogue, cooperation and communication.
The European Capital of Culture Pafos2017 pays tribute to International Jazz Day with an evening from the Jazz walk of fame with works by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, John Kander, Scott Joplin, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Parker and other Jazz greats.
