Early Learning Centre and The Cyprus Red Cross Society Youth Section have teamed up for a Children’s Christmas Toy Drive and invite local residents and businesses to donate toys and gifts to impoverished children this Christmas.

ELC’s 40th birthday event which was held on November 15that all ELC stores in Cyprus marked ’40 days to Christmas’ and was the official launch of the Toy Drive  where many children and adults donated their used toys or gifts to the less fortunate. All ELC stores throughout Cyprus will collect toys up to December 24th 2014.

The donations collected will be distributed through the Cyprus Red Cross Society Youth Section–which give the gifts to parents and caregivers so that their children can receive gifts from people they love during the holiday season. The Toys can be old or new but must not be damaged or unsafe for children.

“It inspires each and every one of us at ELC Cyprus to know that the toys that will be collected by ELC and distributed by the Cyprus Red Cross Society Youth Section will end up in the hands of deserving children. We are very appreciative of everyone’s generosity of time and resources to make this Toy Drive happen.” said Skev Antoniou, Chairman, ELC Cyprus.

ELC around the world

ELC has over 500 stores in 44 countries. This presence around the world is a reflection of the valuable and unique qualities of Early Learning Centre. ELC is based on a simple philosophy – children learn best when they are having fun!

When ELC was established in the UK by John Beale in 1974 (over 40 years ago) it sought to find toys that were developmental, robust, high quality, value for money, safe and most of all fun to play with. As the business grew, it began developing, designing and manufacturing its own toys to its own strict criteria. By distributing directly to its customers ELC could offer better quality and better prices.  Around the world this principle remains ever present in everything we do and in everything that is included in our range.

Child development

Children develop most critically up to the age of six. ELC encourages children to learn and play whilst having fun; to interact with their parents, siblings, grandparents and those that care for them. By the time a child is six they have learnt to walk, talk, write, read, use numbers laugh, enjoy music, language, and social interaction – the building blocks for all future development. These formative years influence and make a difference throughout a childs life.
