According to certain sources, low cost airlines “Podeda” – Aeroflot subsidiary – received slots for operating their flights from Russia to Cyprus, Larnaca airport, this spring-summer season. In plans is to operate 14 flights a week.

Russian regulations regarding the necessity of having 2 years experience within the country of origin might be eliminated allowing the flights to start in the nearest future.  What’s important is that to launch their international campaign “Pobeda” chose Cyprus over so many other destinations explaining it with the popularity of Cyprus due to simple visa obtaining procedure, big number of holiday home owners on the island and very promising previous years statistics of Russian tourist arrivals.

It’s also important to mention, that the intention of quite a few Schengen area countries to introduce dactyloscopy will turn up in the reduction of tourist flow to those countries due to more complicated visa application. That might also increase Russian tourists stream to Cyprus, which will positively influence different areas of local business.
