Constantly on the fashion radar Moi Ostrov has it covered for your fashion lusts and pleasures and so it was during last month’s fashion event “Okto me ena skopo” charity fashion show, that took place at the Presidential Palace Gardens in Nicosia were some of Cyprus’ s best fashion talents presented their collections. Each show had its own WOW factor and awed everyone enjoying the shows. In the beginning we were spoilt for choice since all the collections were just as spectacular as their creators, though fear not’  we managed to bring you some of the best hot listed highlights of the show:

G. ENGLEZOS S/S14 “Roman Spring Collection”: Fashion Designer Grigoris Englezos started of his spring summer collection based on an “evening walk in Rome” towards the pursuit of romance and  showed us how to be first class chic with water colour floral floor length dress that consisted of fairytale like vibrant garden tones. Aztec printed fabrics on one-piece jumpsuit with pastel tones of purple, the designer’s colour impulse didn’t stop there with lots of  kaleidoscopic floral prints in pinks, greens and blues and oranges. Monochrome black and white demure tulle gown perfect; for a first lady’s evening ball ‘seen as the setting was in the president’s gardens’. Frame skimming short dress with rose pink lace applique highlighting the model’s legs for a feminine yet sexy look. Midi sleeved knee length dress with nautical blue with wallpaper prints which rocked our boat, just what you need for a style savvy day-to-night look.  A love story expressed to us through Grigoris Engelezos designs that started off with a story line of fresh young and beautiful, then ending into the perfect monochrome match for a more mature encounter on design.

KRISTO AVRAAM S/S 14: Menswear collection by fashion designer Kristo Avraam’s took tailoring to a full proof holiday relaxed setting with perfectly adjusting pastel toned shorts teamed with crisp white shirt. Kristo also let the suit jackets do the talking by teaming them up with neutral- block colour pants. Male model of the moment Stylianos Flourides’s locks of hair couldn’t of shun more thanks to the deluxe white suit jacket’s contrasting enriched gold lapels. Every look was immaculately put together with lots of power tailoring pigments, you could call it “the female Viagra” when faced with Kristo Avraam’s designs that ignite what us women want to see on their man.  Wonderful mens outerwear pieces with an individualistic edge that is sharp and sophisticated thanks to designer Kristo Avraam.

XRISTA STAVROU DAMIANOU FOR ETHERIAL S/S 15: It was a call of the wild when Digital design artist Xrista Stavrou Damianou turned a new page in her designs for Etherial’s S/S 15 collection focusing on fine detail such a the delicate feathers of an eagle eyed bird, a creature that’s always on the look out for it’s pray justified by the use of camo army tones, male model Christoforos Christoforou’s deeply focused facial expression also helped empower these strong but very fine artistic designs. Blue oversized hoody‘s with angelic figures that reminisced the renaissance era also kept their shield up for a new type of sporty range, two tone kaleidoscopic top that exemplified towards a more preppier’ mens look as well as the new take on the preppy pleated skirt that was of distressed denim fabrics. Lastly something for the little ones too with happy and bright colours that had graphics of unity across them with the word love from the innocent mouths of children resembling the one love that is equal to everyone.  We were also presented with Xrista’s skull ‘be a hero’ designs that were designed for the PASYKAF foundation (click here to find out how to purchase and help those in need). In total all of these designs reminded us of the unity that we stand for what we have and want to look out for. Against today’s backdrop of today’s uncertainty and economic restraint, it was uplifting to see such inspiring and covetable ideas by this digital artist whom really knows how to purely layout her expressionistic side. Xrista Stavrou Damianou the voice of today’s contemporary culture using digital design in the most impressive forms of art on clothes and much more.

MICHALIS LAZOS COLLECTION: Fashion designer Michalis Lazos bejeweled encrusted gowns had our jaws drop in awe with his magnificent set of Haute Couture gowns. Dramatic black ball gowns encrusted with crystal jewels were the ‘piece de resistance’ of the show with high glam techniques and what can only be described as truly irresistible.  A radiance of optimism and confidence by tangerine red trumpet gown using satin silk for a brave and bold dose of colour. Menswear with trophy and pilot jackets in round and rectangular shapes. We were also swept away by the captivating black sequined hourglass dress oozing tons of dazzling drama. Michalis Lazos’s collection managed to bring to life every girl’s childhood fantasy princess gown come true with a variety of styles from far flung eras with no major underlying theme except that they were all made with an industrious eye for lavish details.
